Steven Zhang

Steven Zhang is a professional in the field of Electrical Engineering, currently participating in the 2023 cohort at Next AI since March 2023 and serving as Chief Technology Officer at TREX-Ai since October 2020. Zhang completed a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Alberta from 2014 to 2022, focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence and transactional energy market design for the grid edge, with research involving reinforcement learning agents for maximizing distributed energy resource utilization. Prior experiences include roles as a Transmission Engineer Co-op and Distribution Engineering Co-op at ATCO Electric in 2012 and 2013, respectively, where Zhang contributed to the design and management of electrical distribution and transmission systems. Zhang also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta, obtained in 2014.
