Marston W.

Technical Lead | Research Meteorologist at NextGen Federal Systems

Marston W. has a diverse work experience spanning more than three decades. Marston began their career as an Operational Weather Observer and Forecaster in the United States Air Force, where they observed and recorded weather conditions at various military bases in the US and abroad. After their military service, Marston worked as a Meteorologist/Researcher at SMHI, where they wrote meteorological stories and reports for various media outlets.

Moving into the field of atmospheric modeling, Marston joined Chalmers University of Technology as a Doctoral student. There, they developed an efficient application for processing Numerical Weather Prediction data and integrating it into satellite post-processing systems. Marston continued their research as a Postdoctoral Researcher/Teacher at the University of Gothenburg, focusing on the integration and optimization of software components for atmospheric modeling.

Marston then transitioned into industry roles, starting with Veoneer, where they worked as a Test Development Engineer, designing and implementing API frameworks for optical cameras. Marston later joined Findwise AB as a Findability Consultant, overseeing the development of enterprise search solutions, and acted as the Scrum Master for software development teams.

In their most recent role at ADNET Systems, Inc., Marston worked as a Scientific Software Developer, utilizing Agile methodologies for a research project involving satellite datasets. Currently, they are employed at NextGen Federal Systems as a Technical Lead and Research Meteorologist. In this role, Marston is responsible for leading a data engineering team and enhancing the accuracy of weather forecasts through the implementation of statistical verification algorithms. Marston is actively involved in design discussions and conducts research to advance scientific and computational capabilities.

Overall, Marston W. has a strong background in meteorology, atmospheric modeling, software development, and project management, making significant contributions to the field throughout their career.

Marston W. has a strong educational background in climate modeling and development. Marston completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Global Climate Modelling and Development from Chalmers University of Technology from 2008 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Meteorology from Stockholm University from 2001 to 2003. Marston also pursued a degree in Physics at Linköping University from 1998 to 2001. Additionally, Marston W. has an Associate's degree in Applied Meteorology from the Community College of the Air Force, which they obtained from 1988 to 1995. In terms of certifications, they have obtained various qualifications including Certified SAFe® 5 Agilist and Certified SAFe® 5 Product Owner/Product Manager from Scaled Agile, Inc., as well as certifications in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Foundations from LinkedIn.
