Rich O'Connell has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Rich began their career as a Principal Technical Consultant and Software Developer at Municipal Management Systems (MMS) in 1994. In 1996, they joined Ceridian as a Principal Technical Consultant, providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support for enterprise solutions. Rich then transitioned to Progress Software Corporation in 1998, where they worked as a Technical Account Manager, responsible for presenting technical product demonstrations and crafting sales strategies.

In 2000, O'Connell joined HP/Mercury as a Principal System Engineer, where they provided pre-sales engineering and technical account management for large-scale enterprise software solutions. Rich served as a technical-sales liaison and led a technical team for the Northeast region. In 2007, they became the owner of Newton Technology Group, LLC, until 2018.

O'Connell's next role was at Pinkerton Academy in 2016, where they served as the Director of IT. Rich was responsible for managing the IT infrastructure supporting 3,500 end users across a 170-acre campus.

From 2019 onwards, O'Connell worked at Nexthink, initially as a Support Account Manager in Premium Support and later as a Team Lead. In 2021, they transitioned to the role of Level 3 Technical Lead. Currently, they hold the position of Escalation Manager - North America, which they started in February 2022.

Rich O'Connell completed their High School Diploma in the College/University Preparatory and Advanced High School/Secondary Diploma Program at Xaverian Brothers High School. Afterward, they attended Suffolk University from 1989 to 1993, where they graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts, earning Cum Laude honors. Prior to their university education, Rich O'Connell also received a Diploma in College Prep from Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA, between 1984 and 1988.
