James Weaver

James Weaver has a diverse background in education and the arts. James started their career as the Director of Orchestras at Perham, MN Public Schools, where they transformed the small string program into a successful full symphony orchestra. James then moved on to Aberdeen Public Schools, where they directed a 500-student orchestra program and implemented various initiatives such as district-wide honor orchestras and summer camps. Weaver then served as the Executive Director of Fine Arts at the South Dakota High School Activities Association, overseeing a wide range of fine arts activities for 181 member high schools. James later became the Fine Arts Curriculum Coordinator at the Sioux Falls School District, managing the fine arts budget and scheduling staff across multiple buildings. Currently, Weaver holds the position of Director of Performing Arts and Sports at the National Federation of State High School Associations.

From 2012 to 2014, James attended the University of South Dakota, where they obtained a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Superintendency and Educational System Administration.

From 2009 to 2010, James studied at Northern State University and earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Secondary School Administration/Principalship.

In the period between 2001 and 2005, James attended Concordia College and obtained a Bachelor's of Music degree in Education.

Before that, from 1999 to 2001, James completed their General Studies at Aberdeen Central High School.

James has also obtained various certifications from the South Dakota Department of Education. These certifications include Instrumental Education, Vocal Education, Secondary Principal, K-12 Principal, and School District Superintendent.
