Antonio Ornelas

Antonio Ornelas has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and biotech industry. Antonio is currently serving as the Chief Executive Director at LUMABS BV. Prior to this role, they held positions at NG BIOTECH, ADmit Therapeutics, EIT Health, @INNOVATION B.V., ONEBIO, Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME), BIOCONTEC – Management Advisory & Consulting OÜ, Research Executive Agency, and Diagenode. Antonio has held various leadership and advisory roles, including Director, AMR Diagnostics Business Unit, Director Strategic Partnering & Business Development, Business Mentor - Coach, and SME Instrument Business Coach. Antonio has extensive experience in business development, strategic partnering, mentoring, coaching, and fundraising.

Antonio Ornelas completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Universidade de Coimbra from 1983 to 1988. Antonio then pursued Master studies in Biotechnology - Molecular Genetics at both Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciências from 1989 to 1990. Afterward, they furthered their education at The Rockefeller University, where they obtained a Guest Investigator position in the field of Antimicrobial Resistance AMR, Biochemistry, and Genetics of Bacterial Cell Wall from 1992 to 1995. Additionally, during the same period, they were enrolled in a PhD program in the Genetics of antimicrobial resistance at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Antonio's educational journey began at Liceu de Santo Tirso from 1977 to 1982, where they completed their pre-university studies.
