Suzy Aspley has over 26 years of professional experience in communications and public relations. Suzy started their career as a Community News Editor at the Aberdeen Evening Express, where they managed a team of trainee reporters and implemented training programs. After their time at the Aberdeen Evening Express, they worked as a Senior Press Officer at Scottish Water, where they handled media relations and crisis management for the West of Scotland region.
In 2007, Suzy joined FirstGroup UK as a PR Manager for UK Bus Scotland and Ireland. Suzy developed a proactive media strategy for the UK bus division and supported the First Monster Challenge event. Then, they moved on to NHS 24 and NHSScotland National Collaborative in 2008 as Head of Communications/Strategic Communications and Engagement Lead. In this role, they were responsible for marketing, communications, and internal engagement activities. Suzy also supported the NHSScotland National Boards Collaborative and participated in the Project Lift leadership development cohort.
Currently, Suzy serves as the Chief Communications Officer at NHS 24, where they lead the communications, marketing, media, and staff engagement efforts. Suzy leads a multi-media team and focuses on Scotland's digital health and care services.
Throughout their career, Suzy has demonstrated strong communication skills and a strategic approach to reputation management. Suzy has a wealth of experience in various sectors and has been a valuable asset to each organization they have worked for.
Suzy Aspley completed the Athena Programme in Executive Leadership Development at Kings Fund from 2017 to 2018. Suzy also pursued education in the field of journalism through the National Council for Training of Journalists at Edinburgh Napier University. Additionally, Suzy obtained a BA (hons) in Historical and Critical Studies from Northumbria University. Suzy also participated in Project Lift Leadership Cubed in 2018.
