Dave Caesar

Associate Medical Director at NHS Lothian

Dave Caesar has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Dave has served as the Lead for FMLM Scotland at the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at NHS Lothian for many years where they held various roles, including Associate Medical Director, Emergency Physician, Clinical Lead for Major Trauma Network, and Clinical Director for Emergency Medicine. Dave also worked as a Clinical Advisor for SB Dance Health at Scottish Ballet and held multiple positions at The Scottish Government, including Senior Strategic Advisor Health Workforce, Interim Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Head of Leadership, Culture & Wellbeing, and Deputy Director, Head of Health Leadership and Talent Management. Additionally, they were a Specialty advisor to the CMO representative at The Royal College of Emergency Medicine and served as the Training Programme Director for Emergency Medicine at South East Scotland Deanery. Dave was also the Lead for Clinical Governance at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Dave Caesar attended Sherborne school in Dorset from 1987 to 1992. Dave did not obtain a degree or field of study during this time. From 1992 to 1997, they attended The University of Edinburgh, where they earned an MBChB degree in Medicine. In 2000, Dave pursued further education at the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and obtained a degree called FRCSEd (A&E). In 2006, they enrolled at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and acquired a degree known as FRCEM. Lastly, in 2017, Dave became a Senior Fellow at the Faculty of Medical Leadership & Management.
