Simon Cookson

Simon Cookson has extensive experience in audit and governance, currently serving as an Independent Audit Committee Member at Bristol City Council since January 2018 and as Director of Audit & Assurance for NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership since June 2014. Cookson was previously a Non Executive Board Member at Newport Unlimited from October 2010 to June 2014 and has held roles as an Affiliate at Jersey Audit Office and a Consultant for S Cookson Consulting Ltd, focusing on internal audit and risk management. Prior experience includes a tenure as a Director at PwC and Treasurer at Bristol Citizens Advice Bureau. Cookson’s career began at the Audit Commission, where responsibilities included District Auditor and Head of Health from September 1987 to November 2005. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hull.
