James Sartell

Adjunct Instructor at NHTI

James Sartell currently serves as the Chief of Police for the Townsend Massachusetts Police Department, a position held since November 2017, overseeing the overall protection of lives and property in Townsend. In addition to this role, James is actively involved with the International Association of Chiefs of Police, participating in the IACP Policy Center Working Group and the Community Policing Committee, where efforts focus on policy development and promoting effective community policing strategies. James has extensive experience in law enforcement, previously serving as Chief of Police for the Hollis, New Hampshire Police Department, and holding various roles from police officer to corrections officer in multiple agencies. In academia, James contributes as a course author and adjunct instructor at New England College, Southern New Hampshire University, and NHTI, Concord's Community College, along with past instruction at Boston University. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Boston University and various leadership training certificates.
