Michael Piazza

Michael Piazza, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience. From 2018 to present, they have served as Associate Director, Applications Development, Sr Manager, Applications Development, and Senior Manager Systems Integration at Nicoya. In this role, they have been responsible for building and developing the SI team, leading technical projects, and identifying, confirming, and interpreting performance issues related to integration of individual assays and instrument modules. Additionally, they have served as Senior Customer Success Scientist, managing 120+ domestic and international client portfolios and leading training sessions. From 2017-2018, they served as Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo, where they developed, collected, and analyzed experimental data to propose a new model for biomolecular interactions. Michael was also the first author and co-author of 2 peer-reviewed research articles and first author of 1 invited peer-reviewed literature article. In 2017, they served as Engineering Consultant at Jungbunzlauer, where they designed and led an R&D project for a multi-national biotechnology company. From 2010-2017, they served as Postdoctoral Fellow, PhD Candidate, NMR Facility Assistant, and Teaching Assistant Biochemistry Undergrad Lecture and Lab at the University of Waterloo. Finally, in 2009, they served as Client Project Manager at AGAT Laboratories.

Michael Piazza, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biochemistry from the University of Waterloo in 2007. Michael then went on to complete a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemistry from the same university in 2011. In 2016, they received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from the University of Waterloo. In 2019, they completed the Leadership WTF (Where To Focus) course from Communitech Academy.
