Gene Yau has a diverse work experience in corporate development, business development, and strategy roles. Gene started their career as a Research Analyst at Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center in 1997 and later worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at William Blair and Company. In 2002, they joined Abbott where they held multiple roles including Marketing Associate and Pricing Analyst. From 2006 to 2007, they worked at PRTM as a Senior Associate. Gene then joined Monsanto Company as a Senior Business Development Manager from 2008 to 2012. In 2013, they became an Associate Director of Corporate Development at Astellas Pharma. Gene subsequently worked at Blueprint Medicines and Nimbus Therapeutics, where they held various roles in Business Development and Corporate Development & Strategy.
Gene Yau earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1993 to 1997. Later, they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biotechnology from Northwestern University from 1999 to 2000. Finally, they pursued an MBA degree with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business from 2003 to 2006.
