Daniel co-founded NIMIS Cybersecurity in 2012, providing cybersecurity consulting services to Australian government, financial, and technology companies. Daniel also played a key role in developing an AI-powered penetration testing framework to scale the company's impact in the cybersecurity market. Daniel is the founder of Lap Faster, a company that offers race engineering consulting services to motor sport participants, particularly in the Australian GT3 Cup Challenge Series. Lap Faster developed advanced technology that provided expert driver instruction on improving lap times through modeling and analytics.

Before their entrepreneurial endeavours, Daniel worked as a Senior Cyber Security Consultant at BAE Systems Australia, where they were responsible for providing cybersecurity consulting to clients and project teams. Daniel Johns attended the University of Adelaide from 1997 to 2002. Daniel pursued a degree in Engineering with a focus on Electrical and Electronic. During the same period, they also studied Physics at the University of Adelaide.

In addition to their educational background, Daniel obtained several certifications. In 2006, they received the GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) from the SANS Institute. In 2011, they obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)2. Finally, in 2014, they acquired the Payment Card Industry - Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) certification from the PCI Security Standards Council.
