Robert Burn began their career in 1997 at Newstead Wood School, where they served as Educational Visits Coordinator, Head of Geography, Data Analysis Support, Citizenship Coordinator, and Examinations Officer. In 2000, they became a Freelance Writer for Nelson Thornes, and in 2003 they became a Freelance Writer for Curriculum Press. In 2005, they founded the Environmental Studies Network. As Citizenship Coordinator, they led the school's development of the newly created National Curriculum subject, creating procedures for cross-curricular delivery, assessment, and reporting of Citizenship in line with DFES guidelines at Key stages 3 and 4.
Robert Burn received their Geography & Biology BSc from the University of Surrey between 1991 and 1994. Robert then attended IOE - UCL's Faculty of Education and Society, where they obtained a PGCE in Geography Teacher Education between 1996 and 1997. Prior to this, they attended Hayes Secondary School between 1983 and 1990. In 2017, they obtained their First Aid appointed person certification.
