Karen Pearlman

Karen Pearlman is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in sports and business news. Currently serving as a business news reporter for the San Diego Business Journal since 2022, Pearlman previously worked as a freelance writer for various local publications in San Diego County. Prior to that, a significant tenure at The San Diego Union-Tribune spanned from 1996 to 2021, where roles included sports department news assistant/editor and news reporter. Additional freelance writing engagements with the San Diego Jewish Journal and prior positions at The Daily Californian and Chula Vista Star News further demonstrate a diverse background in journalism. Pearlman holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from San Diego State University, and earlier education was completed at Patrick Henry High School and Grossmont College.
