Mike Shagena

Mike Shagena is currently the Lead Data Scientist at NiSource, a position held since January 2024. Previously, Mike worked as a Lead Data Science Consultant at Duke Energy Corporation from April 2020 to January 2024 and as a Data Scientist at Microsoft from August 2019 to April 2020. Mike's experience also includes a role as a Senior Data Science Consultant at Duke Energy Corporation from September 2015 to August 2019, focusing on developing comprehensive machine learning and advanced analytics solutions. Earlier in Mike's career, positions included .NET Software Developer at Bank of America, where full stack development was performed for Card Claims and Fraud technologies, and various roles in technical support and information security at Appalachian State University and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. Mike holds a Master’s Degree in Analytics from the Institute for Advanced Analytics at North Carolina State University and a BSBA in Economics and Computer Information Systems from Appalachian State University.
