James Sturman

Climate Applications And Risk Developer at NIWA

James Sturman is an accomplished climate applications and risk developer with extensive experience in GIS and climate data analysis. Currently at NIWA since March 2021, James previously held the role of senior GIS consultant at Aurecon from July 2014 to March 2021. James initially joined NIWA in March 2007 as a climate GIS scientist and later served as a climate GIS technician/analyst. Earlier roles include consultant researcher at AEA Technology, managing the national atmospheric emissions inventory for DEFRA, and a researcher at the University of Canterbury, contributing to projects on air pollution and health. James holds a postgraduate diploma in environmental science from the University of Canterbury.
