Sam Dean is a Principal Scientist at NIWA, where they have been working since February 2006. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford from January 2002 to August 2005 and as a Data Scientist at The British Atmospheric Data Centre from January 2001 to December 2001. They obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Atmospheric Physics and Dynamics from the University of Canterbury in 2001. In addition to their current role at NIWA, they have also held the titles of Chief Scientist for Climate, Atmosphere and Hazards and Climate Scientist.
