Dr.-Ing. Joachim Gehrung has a diverse work experience in the field of robotics and image exploitation. Dr.-Ing. Joachim began their career in 2009 as an intern at Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation IOSB. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as a Bachelorand at STRATEC Biomedical AG. Dr.-Ing. Joachim then joined Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) / University of Karlsruhe (TH) as a research assistant and Masterand from 2013 to 2015.
In 2015, Dr.-Ing. Gehrung joined Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation IOSB as a Research Scientist. During this time, they completed their doctoral thesis on "Change Detection in Urban Street Spaces" based on "fuzzy spatial reasoning" at the Technical University of Munich. Dr.-Ing. Joachim also evaluated spatial information using "fuzzy spatial reasoning" and performed trafficability analysis based on 3D measurement data.
Currently, Dr.-Ing. Gehrung is working as a SLAM & Perception Developer at NODE Robotics since 2023.
Dr.-Ing. Joachim Gehrung began their education at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in 2007, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in computer science. Dr.-Ing. Joachim completed this program in 2011. Following this, from 2011 to 2014, Dr.-Ing. Gehrung attended the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where they obtained their Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in computer science. Dr.-Ing. Gehrung continued their academic journey at the Technical University of Munich, commencing their Doctorate degree in photogrammetry and remote sensing in 2016. Dr.-Ing. Joachim is expected to complete this program in 2022.
