Geoff Faraday NZGS has a diverse and extensive work experience in the fields of international development, humanitarian affairs, and military coordination. Geoff has held various roles in different organizations.
Starting from 1999, Geoff served as a Commissioned Officer in the British Army's Queen's Royal Lancers until 2006. Geoff then joined the New Zealand Defense Force's Queen Alexandra's Mounted Rifle Regiment, where they held positions such as Officer Commanding, Senior Management, and Project Manager.
In 2014, Geoff worked with the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan as a Military Liaison Officer, Protection Coordinator, Civil-Military Interface, and Project Coordinator. Geoff was responsible for conducting patrols, establishing relationships with local and international agencies, and ensuring civilian protection.
From 2015 to 2016, Geoff pursued a Masters in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). During this time, they focused on understanding complex emergencies and development issues.
After completing their studies, Geoff worked as a Database Administrator at Social360, a company specializing in digital media monitoring and analysis. Geoff continued their professional development in international development and humanitarian affairs.
From 2017 to 2018, Geoff joined Oxfam as a Humanitarian Advisor, providing specialist advice on security strategies and conducting field visits to identify security issues in South Sudan.
Geoff then served with the Danish Refugee Council and its regional branch, Dansk Flygtningehjælp, from 2018 to 2022. Geoff held roles such as Head of Safety and Safety Advisor, contributing to safety and security initiatives in East Africa and the Great Lakes region.
Currently, Geoff is working at Nonviolent Peaceforce as the Deputy Head of Mission - Operations & Security since March 2023. Prior to this role, they served as the Deputy Head of Operations.
