Samantha (Safer) Valentine has held a variety of roles in the communications and marketing industry since 2009. Samantha began their career as a PR and Marketing Assistant at the Victoria & Albert Museum, where they provided support for consumer press and produced B2B marketing and sales materials. Samantha then moved up to become an Own Brand Researcher, where they identified new subjects and themes suitable for development across departments. Following this, they were appointed Head of Brand Communications at the same museum, managing a central communications team and creating and implementing marketing and communications strategies.
In 2014, Samantha moved to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they were the General Manager of Audience Engagement & Communications - The Met Store. Here, they defined and directed programming and partnerships, and increased multi-million dollar revenue targets by delivering creative brand marketing campaigns.
In 2016, Samantha took on two roles, becoming Managing Director at Narratives The Agency and Brand Management, Communications & eCommerce Consultant at meg shops. At Narratives, they worked with a selective roster of independent makers, designers, and retailers from the US, South America, and Europe. At meg shops, they redefined the brand strategy and positioning, and increased e-commerce sales by 204% over two years.
In 2019, Samantha became a Marketing & Growth Consultant at Bulletin. Finally, in 2020, they became Co-Founder & COO of Norby, a digital communications toolkit built for and by creative entrepreneurs.
Samantha (Safer) Valentine has a diverse educational background. Samantha completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Fashion Theirtory and Art Theirtory from Bard College in 2004. Samantha then went on to complete a Master of Arts (MA) in Theirtory of Design from the Royal College of Art in 2007. Following this, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in Design Management for the Fashion Industries from the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London in 2008. Most recently, they completed an Executive Development Program from Columbia Business School in 2016. Samantha also holds two additional certifications: Customer Analytics from the University of Pennsylvania (obtained in July 2016) and Content Strategy from Northwestern University (obtained in May 2015).
