Tanya S. White serves as Chief of Staff . As a member of the senior leadership team, the Chief of Staff partners with the President and Executive Cabinet Staff, and collaborates with individuals across campus and within the community and Commonwealth to support the President’s initiatives and the University’s strategic plan to build an atmosphere of coordination and clear understanding of the institution’s mission, vision, and goals. The Chief of Staff is a role that combines administrative duties with representational duties that handle a wide range of time-sensitive, confidential administrative responsibilities while positively representing the President’s Office internally and externally. White also focuses on ensuring comprehensive Executive Office oversight of activities, as well as being responsible for coordinating a wide range of mission critical administrative and executive tasks. Originally from the Hampton, White has over twenty-three years of higher education experience with the Commonwealth and served at Old Dominion University in various capacities before coming to Norfolk State. Her most recent position was Executive Administrative Manager for the Division of Finance and Administration in the Vice President’s Office for fourteen years. White earned a bachelor’s of psychology from Regent University and a master’s in Management and Leadership from Liberty University. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies at Abilene University with an emphasis in Higher Education Leadership. White is a member of the Virginia Governmental Employees Association (VGEA); American Association of University Women (AAUW); and the NAPAHE-Professionals Supporting Higher Education Leaders.
