Alex Mayer has a diverse work experience in the energy industry. They started their career as an Engineering Intern at Northrop Grumman Corporation in 2001. They then worked as a Researcher in Residence at ECN in 2003. From 2006 to 2008, Alex served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University, where they made significant contributions to the understanding of polymer-based solar cells. They managed collaborations and discovered a novel research direction. In 2008, they joined SPECTRAWATT, INC as a Senior Research Scientist, focusing on solar cell research until 2011. They then worked at SVTC Solar as a Manager of Strategic Business Development from 2012 to 2013. Following that, Alex served as a Business Development Manager at Power-One – A Member of the ABB Group from 2013 to 2014, focusing on utility projects in North America. They then joined SolarCity as a Principal Technologist from 2014 to 2018. Most recently, they have held positions at Dissigno International, starting in 2018, where they were involved in technology and engineering roles. Since 2018, Alex has also served as the Chief Technology Officer at Noria Energy.
Alex Mayer earned a Ph.D. in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell University, where they attended from 2001 to 2006. Prior to that, Alex completed their undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University from 1997 to 2001, obtaining two Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and Applied Mathematics.
