Øyvind Tangen Ødegaard

Øyvind Tangen Ødegaard is a Senior Engineer at Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA) since June 2021, specializing in oceanography. Prior to this role, Øyvind worked at National Oilwell Varco from January 2007 to June 2021 as a Senior Engineer focusing on software and instrumentation for offshore control systems, including Simatic S7 PLC and WinCC HMI. Øyvind gained experience as a Data Processor/Online Surveyor at DeepOcean from October 2005 to December 2006, where responsibilities included post-processing data from multi-beam echo sounders and integrating navigation systems. Earlier, Øyvind was a Scholarship Holder at NTNU in the Department of Marine Technology from November 1999 to November 2004, contributing to a strategic university program aimed at advanced marine equipment development. Øyvind holds a BEng (Honours) in Offshore Engineering with Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, completed between 1993 and 1997, and further education from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 2000 to 2003.
