Tamika Walker Kelly

Tamika Walker Kelly is the current President of the North Carolina Association of Educators, where they lead the largest organization for public school employees in North Carolina. Prior to this role, they worked as a K-5 Music Educator in Cumberland County Schools since 2007. In this position, they educated over 500 elementary students in the fundamentals of music and conducted an auditioned Honors Choir. Tamika also received recognition as the Westover District Teacher of the Year in 2015 and served in various leadership roles such as In-School Facilitator for Positive Interventions and Support (PBIS) Initiative and Grade-Level Representative on the School Improvement Team (SIT). Tamika additionally contributed as a ClassDojo Mentor and part of the Cumberland County School Arts Education Curriculum Team, providing professional development content to arts education teachers.

Tamika Walker Kelly has a Master's Degree in Educational/Instructional Technology from East Carolina University, which they obtained from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Music in Music Teacher Education from East Carolina University, where they studied from 2001 to 2007. Tamika completed their high school education at E. E. Smith Senior High School from 1997 to 2001. Tamika also holds additional certifications, including the Plickers Ambassador Program from Plickers, which they obtained in September 2016, and the Cumberland County Schools- Local AIG Endorsement from Cumberland County Schools, which they obtained in April 2014.
