Jeff Cox has extensive work experience in the education sector. Jeff started their career as a High School Teacher at Alleghany County Schools in 1993 and then moved on to become an Assistant Principal and later a Principal at Union County Public Schools. In 2003, they became the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction at Lee County Schools. From 2005 to 2014, they served as the Superintendent at Alleghany County Schools. Jeff then became the President of Wilkes Community College in 2014 and is currently serving in the same position. In 2023, they will assume the role of President at the North Carolina Community College System.
Jeff Cox has a strong educational background in the field of Education. From 1987 to 1992, they attended Appalachian State University and received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in English--Secondary Education. Jeff further pursued their education at Appalachian State University from 1996 to 1998 and obtained a Master of School Administration degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General. Finally, from 1998 to 2001, Jeff attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where they earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General.
