Amy Jenkins

Amy Jenkins is an experienced education professional with extensive expertise in special education and online teaching. Currently serving as an Exceptional Children Facilitator at Durham Public Schools since August 2008, Jenkins ensures Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for students with special needs and develops professional development programs for special education staff. As an Online English Teacher for North Carolina Virtual Public School since January 2016, Jenkins collaborates with classroom educators to enhance academic support. Previous roles include Lead Tutor and Lead Counselor at the Emily Krzyzewski Center, where Jenkins developed individualized lesson plans and supported student academic progress. Earlier experience at Pearson North America involved training exam scorers for National Boards and managing testing material security. Jenkins holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Children with Learning Disabilities from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from St. Mary's College of Maryland.
