Brian Burnett

Brian Burnett has extensive experience in the field of cybersecurity. Brian is currently the Director of Cyber Security at North Carolina's Electric Cooperatives, where they are responsible for evaluating the organization's adherence to security standards and managing a team of cybersecurity analysts. Prior to this role, they served as the Manager of Cybersecurity at the same company, where they developed and implemented a cybersecurity program and assessed IT compliance with regulatory requirements.

Brian has also held roles at companies such as 2U, American Public University System, IQVIA, and Guilford College, where they worked as a tutor, adjunct professor, and adjunct instructor, teaching and developing curriculum for cybersecurity and digital forensics courses. Brian also has experience in information security management, IT auditing, and cybercrime technology through roles at companies such as Mediant Communications, Cherry Bekaert LLP, BB&T, and Deloitte.

Throughout their career, Brian has demonstrated expertise in evaluating and managing security risks, developing policies and procedures, and conducting forensic analysis on digital devices. Brian is skilled in both traditional classroom and online teaching environments and has contributed to program growth and curriculum development.

Brian Burnett has a strong educational background in the field of cybersecurity and criminal justice. Brian completed their Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity - Forensics & Intelligence at Utica University from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Guilford College between 2007 and 2009.

To further enhance their expertise, Brian has pursued additional certifications in cybersecurity. In 2011, they obtained the EnCE certification as an EnCase Certified Examiner from Guidance Software. Brian also received the ACE certification as an Access Data Certified Examiner from Access Data in the same year. In 2015, Brian was certified as a CCFE - Certified Computer Forensics Examiner by the Information Assurance Certification Review Board. Additionally, they obtained the SOC for Cybersecurity Certificate from the AICPA in 2018.

Currently, Brian is working towards achieving the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification offered by (ISC)².
