Richard Howes

Richard Howes is an accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in leadership roles across various organizations. Currently serving as the Chairman of the Financial Markets Academy since January 2023, Richard oversees a program designed to develop and connect top-performing students with opportunities in global investment banks and major Australian financial institutions. Richard holds multiple positions, including Operating Partner at Transatlantic Power Holdings and Industry Professor at The University of Queensland, while also contributing as a Council Member and Chair of the Infrastructure Committee at the University of Technology Sydney. Previously, Richard was the CEO and Managing Director of Challenger Limited, where significant contributions were made in the life insurance sector. Richard's earlier career includes leadership roles at Zurich Capital Markets, Macquarie Group, and Bankers Trust, underscoring a strong background in derivatives, risk management, and financial markets. Richard holds a BComm(Hons) from The University of Queensland and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
