Marcy Heemeyer has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and industries. Marcy started their career at Project Turnabout, where they worked as a Regional ATOD Prevention Coordinator, identifying prevention needs and resources in a twenty-seven county service area in SW/SC MN. Marcy then moved on to become a Development, Marketing & Outreach Associate at the same organization, where they coordinated training and communication plans, executed development and media plans, and conducted fundraising activities.
After their time at Project Turnabout, Marcy joined Schwan's Company as a Sr. Training & Development Specialist/Corporate Trainer. In this role, they managed a year-long manager training program and served as the voice-over talent for training initiatives. Marcy also worked as a job process consultant and coach for internal partners.
Marcy then transitioned to become the President + CEO of the United Way of Southwest Minnesota. In this role, they led the organization, staff, and board of directors to unite people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities across a multi-county region. Marcy focused on community impact, diversified revenue sources, and capacity building for engagement.
Following their successful tenure at the United Way, Marcy joined Chief, a private network aimed at driving more women into positions of power. As a member of Core Group #2414, they worked to strengthen their leadership and influence to pave the way for other women executives.
Most recently, Marcy joined North Star Mutual Insurance Company, where they have held multiple roles. Marcy started as a Human Resources Manager, responsible for the overall strategy, coordination, and evaluation of the HR function for the company. Marcy then served as the Vice President of Human Resources before moving on to become the Women in Leadership (WIL) Co-founder. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Vice President at the company.
Marcy Heemeyer attended South Dakota State University from 1996 to 2000, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with a focus on Criminal Justice. Additionally, in January 2020, they obtained certification as an Ordained Minister from the Universal Life Church.
