Asim Alam

Asim Alam is an experienced anesthesiologist currently serving as an Accredited Volunteer with Operation Smile, providing cleft lip and palate care to children globally, and as the Medical Director of Utilization Services for Canadian Blood Services. Asim has also been an active staff anesthesiologist at North York General Hospital since October 2018, where clinical anesthesia is conducted across various sites. Previous roles include Director of Transfusion Medicine and Chief of Anesthesia at ZOLL Medical Corporation, as well as staff anesthesiologist and transfusion medicine specialist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Asim's career also features consulting roles at Medtronic, ZOLL Medical Corporation, and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at The Hospital for Sick Children. Educational qualifications include medical degrees and residency training from the University of Toronto, along with a Bachelor of Arts & Science from McMaster University and ongoing studies in Lean Six Sigma at McGill University.
