James Averill

James Averill is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in journalism and media relations. Currently serving as the Communications Officer for the Northamptonshire OPFCC since January 2021, James contributes to the joint communications team for both the Northamptonshire Police and Fire and Crime Commissioner, and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service. Previous roles include Local Democracy Reporter and News Reporter at JPIMedia, where coverage of local politics was emphasized, as well as time spent with Local World Media, where James significantly boosted web traffic. James has also volunteered as Communications Officer for the Northampton Town Supporters' Trust, and has experience as a freelance sports reporter. Early career beginnings at The Co-operative Group provided foundational communication skills. James holds a BA in Journalism and the News Industry from the University of Kent.
