Diana Kutzner

Lead, Climate Change And Health at Northern Health

Diana Kutzner has a diverse work experience. Diana started their career as a Research Project Officer at UNBC in September 2009. Diana then served as the Manager of the Survey Research Centre, where they provided various data collection and analysis services. In April 2010, Diana transitioned to the role of Manager of Community and Industry Partnerships, facilitating connections between UNBC researchers and external partners. Diana also oversaw research service contracts during their tenure. Diana continued their journey at UNBC as a Research Support Officer and later as a Research Associate. In 2014, they pursued a PhD at the University of Otago, specializing in the social-ecological resilience of wildlife tourism operations. After completing their PhD in 2018, Diana joined UNBC again as the Research Manager of the Environment, Community, Health Observatory (ECHO) Network. In this role, they were responsible for managing the network's research initiatives. In 2021, they joined the First Nations Health Authority as a Regional Planner. Most recently, Diana has taken on the role of Project Manager and Lead for Climate Change and Health at Northern Health - BC in August 2022.

Diana Kutzner's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Social-ecological resilience in tourism from the University of Otago, which they obtained from 2014 to 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Arts (MA) in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies with a specialization in Tourism at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) from 2006 to 2009. Diana also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Nature-Based Tourism from UNBC, which they earned between 2002 and 2006.

In addition to their formal degrees, Diana has obtained several certifications. Diana completed the Northern Health Certificate of Completion from D2L in October 2023. In May 2023, they completed the Pan American Climate Resilient Health Systems Course offered by the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research, Health Canada, and the Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education at Columbia University. Diana also obtained certifications in various areas, including Project Management Simplified from the Project Management Institute in August 2022, The Art of Facilitation from Royal Roads University in May 2022, San'yas Indigenous Cultural Safety from the Provincial Health Services Authority in April 2022, and Indigenous Canada from the University of Alberta in March 2022.
