Léo Duchêne is a Senior Material Engineer at Northvolt, leading technical efforts in Lithium Metal and Silicon dominant anodes since June 2020. Previously, Léo worked as a Material Engineer focused on next-generation Li-ion and Li metal battery development. Léo's research background includes a role at Empa, where development of a new closo-borate solid electrolyte for all-solid-state batteries occurred, and a position as a visiting researcher at Hanyang University, implementing solution processing for solid-state battery fabrication. Léo has also contributed to the microstructure engineering of organolead halide perovskites during a visiting research stint at Berkeley Lab. Earlier experience includes an internship at CSEM focusing on gas sensor design and a teaching assistant role at EPFL. Léo holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Geneva and advanced degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from EPFL and the University of Waterloo.
