Brendan Brophy has amassed extensive work experience in the steel industry. Brendan began their career at BlueScope Steel in 1984 as an Assistant Roller before moving to North Star BlueScope Steel in 1998. There, they held various positions, including Operations Engineer, Caster Operations Manager, and Hot Strip Mill Operations Manager, where they led the Hot Mill group. In 2008, they joined NS BlueScope as the EHS Manager, responsible for Environment, Health, and Safety. Brendan later became the Manager of Reliability & Manufacturing Excellence before being promoted to the role of Vice President in Health, Safety, and Environment for Coated Products in North America. In 2020, they took on an expanded role as Vice President for Health, Safety, and Environment for NS BlueScope Coated Products, overseeing their Joint Venture headquartered in Singapore. Throughout their career, Brendan has demonstrated strong leadership and achieved business goals in terms of safety, quality, costs, and productivity.
Brendan Brophy obtained their Certificate in Metallurgy from TAFE NSW from 1980 to 1984. Brendan then pursued their Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a Management major at the University of Wollongong from 1995 to 1998. Lastly, Brendan completed their Master's of Business Administration (MBA) with a Finance major at The University of Toledo from 2005 to 2009.
