Juan Riachi

Juan Riachi has a diverse range of work experience in the legal field. Juan currently serves as the Head of Fintech at Phylo Legal, a position they have held since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Nubloq as both a Legal Manager and a Legal Counsel, where they provided comprehensive legal advice and support in the structuring of business models leveraging technology within the insurance industry.

In 2018, Juan co-founded Lex-Box, a web app aimed at helping entrepreneurs and small businesses obtain all the necessary legal documentation for safe operations. Juan served as a Co-founder and the Chief Executive Director during their tenure.

Juan also has experience as a General Counsel and Legal Project Manager at LALA - Latin American Leadership Academy, where they provided legal counsel for corporate, intellectual property, and data privacy matters. Additionally, they acted as a liaison with various law firms on behalf of the organization.

At Phylo Legal, where they co-founded the company in 2018, Juan served as the Chief Legal and Operating Officer. Their responsibilities included providing advisory services to startups and enterprises in various industries, such as technology, ecommerce, fintech, insurtech, and proptech. Juan also oversaw the company's operation, including defining and structuring its current operation, controlling and improving relevant KPIs, and procuring technology to increase efficiency.

Before their involvement at Phylo Legal, Juan worked as an Associate at Franco Duarte Murillo Arredondo / KMC Law & Finance, advising clients on corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, and financing matters under Mexican law. Juan also gained experience at Brigard Urrutia, advising clients on syndicated loans, structured finance, project finance, and regulatory affairs.

Juan began their career as an Attorney at Giacomette & Mejía Abogados Asociados, where they provided advisory services to private and public entities on litigation matters.

In addition to their professional experiences, Juan also served as a Teaching Assistant at Universidad de los Andes - Colombia.

Overall, Juan Riachi has a strong background in providing comprehensive legal advice and support, primarily in the areas of technology, finance, and startups, while also gaining experience in teaching and project management.

Juan Riachi's education history is as follows:

From 2021 to 2022, Juan Riachi attended Universidad Externado de Colombia, where they pursued a Posgrado (postgraduate degree) in Especialización en derecho informático y de las nuevas tecnologías (Specialization in Informatics Law and New Technologies).

Between 2011 and 2016, Juan Riachi completed their Bachelor's degree in Derecho (Law) at Universidad de Los Andes.

In 2011, Juan Riachi also briefly attended Bournemouth Business School International, where they studied Legal Studies Foundation as part of their degree in Derecho.

In terms of additional certifications, Juan Riachi obtained a Diplomado (diploma) in Administración de Riesgos (Risk Management) from Universidad EAFIT in February 2023. Juan also acquired a Diplomado en Seguros Generales (General Insurance Diploma) from Fasecolda - Federación de Aseguradores Colombianos in September 2022.

Juan Riachi has further pursued professional development in the field of law and technology. Juan completed a course titled Introduction to Cybersecurity from Cisco Networking Academy in November 2020. Additionally, they obtained the qualifications of Bogotá 2018 Graduate from Founder Institute in June 2018 and completed the course Legal Tech & Startups on Coursera in February 2018.
