Hans Joergen Gaasemyr is a senior researcher at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), focusing on China-related research and activities since January 2017. Previously, Gaasemyr served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Bergen from April 2016 to May 2022, where contributions included research and teaching on China. Additional roles include adviser on China-related activities and an interim lecturer at the University of Oslo during 2018-2019, alongside earlier positions as a researcher and PhD candidate at the University of Bergen and as a consultant at UNAIDS. Educational qualifications encompass a PhD in Political Science and Government from the University of Bergen, a Master's degree in Political Science from NTNU, and studies in Social Sciences and Chinese Language at Tsinghua University and the University of Oslo, complemented by a background in journalism from Nord University.
