Mike Brasel

Carbon Free Power Project Director, Nuscale at NuScale Power

Mike Brasel's work experience includes various roles in different companies. Mike began their career as a Nuclear Operator - Electrician in the Navy on USS Arkansas from 1993 to 1999. Mike then worked as a Systems Engineer at Centra Technology from 2001 to 2002. Following this, they joined Dairyland Power Cooperative as a Project Manager from 2002 to 2012, where they later became the Plant Manager of the La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor. Mike was responsible for operating, maintaining, and securing the facility, as well as transitioning to dry cask storage operations and decommissioning. Since 2012, they have worked at NuScale Power, starting as a Project Manager and then progressing through various leadership roles. Currently, they are the Carbon Free Power Project Director at NuScale Power.

From 1999 to 2001, Mike attended Old Dominion University, where they studied Mechanical Engineering under the field of study of Engineering.

Between 2004 and 2008, they pursued a Masters degree in Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

During the period from 1993 to 1995, Mike took part in the Naval Nuclear Power School and associated Prototype Training. However, no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this experience.

Additionally, in March 2021, Mike obtained a certification in "Become a Supply Chain Manager" from LinkedIn.
