In his role at NuScale Power, Tom Mundy oversees commercial global business activities, including all marketing, communications, business development and sales, and services functions for the U.S. and abroad. Mundy also serves as managing director for the United Kingdom and Europe, where he is responsible for establishing a NuScale Power’s business presence. Mundy initially joined NuScale Power in 2012 as the Vice President of Program Management and was responsible for achieving the timeliness and the budget performance of major internal projects.
With 38 years of experience in the power generation industry, Mundy previously served as founding CEO and President of Exelon Nuclear Partners, LLC, a subsidiary of Exelon Generation Company, LLC. In this role he provided a variety of nuclear operational support services based on Exelon’s Nuclear Management Model and was responsible for providing strategic direction, operational management, domestic and international business development, and service delivery. As former Vice President of Nuclear Development, Mundy was responsible for Exelon Generation’s new nuclear development initiatives, including its dual unit new nuclear plant project in Victoria, Texas. He was Exelon’s project manager for the first ever U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission-granted Early Site Permit at the Clinton, Illinois site and was instrumental in the establishment of NuStart Energy Development, LLC. Mundy served as NuStart’s initial project manager, an alternate member of the management committee, and the project director for the U.S. DOE’s Construction and Operating License Demonstration Project—a $500M+ industry/government cost share initiative in connection with the U.S. Department of Energy’s NP2010 program. In addition to the various positions Mundy has held in Exelon’s energy delivery, nuclear, and fossil generation organizations, he has also held positions with GPU Nuclear Corporation and the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. He was certified as a BWR Shift Technical Advisor, and is a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania and New Jersey where he has practiced for several years.
Mundy holds a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, a Master of Engineering Administration degree from George Washington University, and a Juris Doctor (with honors) from Temple University Beasley School of Law. Mundy is also a registered patent attorney.
