Matt Brecke, PE has over 13 years of experience in the engineering field. Matt currently holds the position of Distribution Design Services Director at NV Energy since April 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Gas Damage Prevention Manager for the company from November 2020 to April 2023. In this role, they managed the damage prevention program and oversaw gas dispatch, field inspection, and damage prevention activities in Northern Nevada. Before that, they worked as a Senior Engineer at NV Energy from November 2018 to November 2020, where they provided engineering guidance, supported emergency response efforts, and managed various engineering projects. Prior to joining NV Energy, they worked at Farr West Engineering as an Engineer IV from February 2016 to November 2018, where they focused on public water system projects and roadways rehabilitation. Matt started their career at NV Energy in 2008, holding multiple engineering positions. During their tenure at NV Energy, they played a key role in strengthening the Gas Division's Street & Highway program and managed the program. Matt also gained experience in preventative maintenance, leak surveys, and coordination with roadway and utility projects.
Matt Brecke, PE has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, obtained in 2008. Matt is also certified as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Nevada Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors in December 2013 and by the California Department of Consumer Affairs in September 2011. In addition, they hold various certifications in incident management from FEMA and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification obtained in 2022. In 2023, they plan to obtain Alpine Level I certification from PSIA-AASI Western Region.
