They started their career as a Trainee at Baumueller GmbH in Germany in 2002, where they developed a field bus managing GUI using Visual C++ 6. They then worked as a Finite Element Analyst at AECL from 2009 to 2010, conducting transient thermal-contact analysis for a simulated CANDU fuel element.

After that, Xuan Z. worked at Celestica in 2010 as a Vibration Testing Analyst, where they developed a method and procedure for detecting solder pad failures using vibration signals. They joined Ryerson University in 2005 and held multiple roles such as a Ph.D. Candidate from 2005 to 2008, a Ph.D. Candidate from 2008 to 2010, and a Post-doctoral Research Fellow from 2011 to 2011.

In 2011, Xuan Z. started working at Candu Energy Inc. as a Feeder Stress Analyst, specializing in stress analysis for feeder pipe, including static, thermal, fatigue, and seismic loading with geometry and material nonlinearity. Currently, Xuan Z. is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at the Nuclear Waste Management Organization since 2016.

Xuan Z. has a Ph.D. in Dynamics & Vibration, which was obtained from Ryerson University. The degree was pursued from 2005 to 2010. Prior to that, Xuan Z. completed a Master of Applied Science (MASC) in Structural Optimization (Mechanics) from Beijing University of Technology, which took place from 2002 to 2005.
