Steve Watson

Steve Watson is an accomplished chemist with extensive experience in medicinal chemistry and leadership roles across various pharmaceutical companies. Currently serving as Senior Director of Chemistry at Nxera Pharma since April 2024, Steve leads the Med Chem Group on GPCR Programs, overseeing scientific strategies and portfolio governance. Previously, Steve held the position of Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Heptares Therapeutics from April 2016 to May 2024, where accountability for scientific strategies and chemistry resources was emphasized. Prior roles include Senior Research Fellow and Department Head of Medicinal Chemistry at Lundbeck, where leadership on CNS Programs was pivotal, as well as significant contributions at GlaxoSmithKline in both team leadership and discovery chemistry. Steve Watson holds a Ph.D. and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Birmingham.
