Sarah Lesser Avins

SVP & Chief Development Officer at The New York Genome Center

Sarah Lesser Avins is a seasoned executive in the field of development and external affairs, currently serving as Senior Vice President at New York Genome Center since October 2021. Previously, Avins held the position of Chief Development Officer at NewYork-Presbyterian from April 2015 to April 2021 and served as Vice President, External Affairs and Chief Development Officer at New York Genome Center from October 2013 to March 2015. Earlier roles include Vice President of Development and Executive Director of Leadership Giving at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital from January 2007 to September 2013, and Director of Major Gifts at Sesame Workshop from April 2004 to January 2007. Avins began a career in development as Director of Development at UCLA from May 1992 to April 2000. Academically, Avins holds a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Russian and East European Studies from St. Antony's College, Oxford University, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Art History and Political Science from Sarah Lawrence College.
