Cynara Charles-Pierre is the SVP of Culture and Communications at The New York Times. Cynara has over 9 years of experience in corporate communications and has held leadership positions at TD and JetBlue Airways.
At TD, Cynara led a team that was responsible for driving strategic communications across all key corporate functions and lines of business. Cynara provided strategic counsel to executive and senior leaders, helped evolve and cascade the employee narrative, upheld the brand, and drove employee engagement. Cynara was also responsible for change management, annual events, media relations (with a focus on corporate reputation and crisis), and employee experience. Under their guidance, the TD team launched the company’s industry-leading Parental Leave Program across multiple platforms and social channels – an announcement that led to placement in top-tier media outlets.
Before TD, Cynara spent 4 years at JetBlue Airways as the Director of Corporate Communications. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of internal and external communications for the airline.
Cynara has a proven track record in developing and executing effective communications strategies that drive business results. Cynara is a creative thinker with a passion for employee engagement and building strong cultures.
Cynara Charles-Pierre holds a Bachelor of Arts from LaGrange College and a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University.
They are on a team with Amy Weisenbach - SVP, Marketing, Lisa Howard - SVP, General Manager, Media, and Brian Brett - Executive Director, Audience Insights & Strategy. Cynara Charles-Pierre reports to David Rubin, EVP, Chief Marketing Officer.
