Kirk Rehal has a diverse work experience. In 2013, they were a Winter Intern and a Summer Intern at Aux Sable. In 2012, they worked as a Dining Hall Assistant at The University of Iowa. In 2015, they were a Software Development Intern at United Airlines, where they worked with Spring Framework, Hibernate, and Maven dependencies along with Apache POI and external libraries in Java. In 2016, they were an Intern at West Monroe Partners, where they created a SharePoint suite for a client using custom HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Angular. In 2017, they were an Experienced Consultant at West Monroe Partners, working on an internal ETL project using Angular 2, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. In 2019, they were a Software Engineer at NexLP, where they worked on NexLP's StoryEngine product to enable the use of artificial intelligence models for a seamless user experience. Most recently, in 2020, they were a Lead Developer at oak9, where they helped architect and implement core product capabilities for a multi-user, multi-tenant cloud native SaaS application. Core features introduced included an interactable canvas to display customer's cloud architecture in a graphical representation, a dashboard page to collect and display application-wide information, WebSockets for high performance messaging to the core application, an in-app notification system (leveraging WebSockets) to capture events within a tenant and distribute notification to other users within the same tenant, and an external notification system to send messages to common chat applications (Slack, MS Teams, etc.).
