Jeff Tang has a long and varied work experience in the technology industry. π Jeff began their career in 2006 as a Database Programmer & Systems Administrator at UC Berkeley. In 2008, they worked as a Summer Technology Analyst - Critical Infrastructure Engineering at Goldman Sachs. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as a Global Network Exploitation and Vulnerability Analyst at the National Security Agency. π Jeff then went on to work as a CNO Developer at ManTech from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, Jeff co-founded VAHNA, a start-up that grew to $1M in revenue in 12 months with 5 employees, where they served as Chief Scientist. In 2016, they held two positions simultaneously, as an Executive Mischief Consultant at Mischief Industries and a Sr. Manager of Applied Research at Cylance Inc. In this role, they led a distributed team of eight in researching new software security techniques for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and authored dozens of expert analysis and commentary of new vulnerabilities and security incidents. In 2022, they began working as a Staff Software Engineer, Office of the Chief Scientist at Obsidian Security.
Jeff Tang has an extensive educational background. From 2019 to 2021, they attended the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where they earned a Master of Business Administration. From 2009 to 2012, they earned a Master of Science from Eastern Michigan University in Offensive Computer Security. π Jeff also obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from 2005 to 2008. Additionally, Jeff has obtained certifications from the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS 4011 and 4012) in April 2012, and from ISC2 in June 2011 for CISSP.
