Derek Foxley has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Derek started their career in the U.S. Department of State, Foreign Service, where they served in various international and domestic assignments as an Information Management Specialist. Following this, they worked as a Systems Administrator and Security Analyst at Veridian, where they led the development of a Cyber Security office. Derek then joined BearingPoint as a Senior Management Analyst and CISSP Consultant for the U.S. Department of State's Office of Information Assurance. Derek also worked at IntelliDyne LLC as a Senior Security Analyst and Team Lead, and later as the Director of Information Assurance & Cyber Security. Derek served as the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President at TCAssociates before joining IntelliDyne again as a Director of IA & Cyber Security. Derek's most recent role was as the Chief Information Security Officer (contract) at OBXtek, where they provided expertise on IA topics, conducted training, and supported the Department of State's information systems security enterprise.

Derek Foxley has a Bachelor's degree in International Relations with a minor in Arabic from Brigham Young University. Derek obtained this degree from 1983 to 1989. In addition to their formal education, Derek Foxley has obtained several certifications in the field of computer security and ethical hacking. Derek completed these certifications through LinkedIn in October 2016. Some of the certifications they acquired include "Computer Security: Investigation and Response," "Cybersecurity with Cloud Computing," "Ethical Hacking: Footprinting and Reconnaissance," "Ethical Hacking: Social Engineering," "Introduction to Ethical Hacking," and "Introduction to Kali Linux."
