John Ervin

John Ervin has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. John began their career as a Human Resources Intern at Sodexo in 2014. In 2016, they worked as a Management Intern in the Joint Missions Office at the U.S. Embassy Austria, where they assisted with processing documentation for diplomats, engaged in outreach activities, and attended briefings at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Vienna.

In 2017, they interned at the U.S. Department of State in the Front Office of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. Their responsibilities included supporting office operations and participating in weekly country team meetings.

John went on to serve as a Senatorial Intern at The Office of U.S. Senator Christopher A. Coons in 2018, where they engaged in constituent relations, conducted policy research, and facilitated congressional tours. Additionally, they worked as a Program Assistant III at GAP Solutions, Inc. during the same year.

Since 2019, John has been with OBXtek, starting as a Technical Writer and eventually taking on the role of Contingency Plan SME | Information Assurance Security Specialist. Their responsibilities include drafting and editing system Contingency Plans, facilitating annual tests, leading update meetings, and implementing NIST controls. John is also involved in risk analysis, categorizing information systems, and performing change management analysis. John is responsible for writing and maintaining documentation in various GRC tools.

John Ervin completed their education with a Bachelor's Degree in Government and International Politics from George Mason University, spanning from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they attended Gesamtschule Giessen Ost (Ostschule) from 2013 to 2014, where they completed their high school education. Before attending Gesamtschule Giessen Ost, John studied at Dover High School from 2010 to 2014, focusing on academics. In addition to their formal education, they have also acquired several certifications, including "Improving Your Technical Writing Skills" from Skillsoft in April 2023, "CompTIA Security+ ce Certification" from CompTIA in December 2022, "Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Certification" from the Federal Aviation Administration in March 2021, and "Time Management: Working from Home" from LinkedIn in April 2020.
