Kyriakos Poyias

Kyriakos Poyias has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Kyriakos is currently serving as the Director of Data at Ocean Finance since 2021. Previously, they worked at Marlow Navigation from 2018 to 2021 as a Solutions Architect, where they led the restructuring of the IT department and introduced Agile and Scrum methodology. During their time at Marlow Navigation, they also designed and released the successful CrewCompanion mobile application.

Before joining Marlow Navigation, Kyriakos worked as a Lecturer at Ctl Eurocollege from 2020 to 2021. Kyriakos also held the position of Lead Data Engineer at dataffirm from 2016 to 2018, where they built and managed the Engineering Team and developed a large-scale data platform.

Additionally, Kyriakos has experience as a Senior SAP Engineer/SAP PI Consultant at AMS Advanced Management Solutions Ltd from 2014 to 2016. Kyriakos provided development, architectural, and financial solutions to top banks and forex companies in Cyprus.

Earlier in their career, Kyriakos worked as a Full Stack Engineer (Contractor) at LAMDA CS in 2013, a Graduate Teaching and Development Assistant at the University of Leicester from 2009 to 2013, and a Software Developer (Summer Internship) at engino.net ltd in 2007.

Kyriakos Poyias began their education at The Grammar School, where they completed their High School education from 1997 to 2004, obtaining their Apolytirion. Kyriakos then went on to attend the University of Leicester, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from 2005 to 2008.

Continuing their education at the University of Leicester, Kyriakos pursued a Master of Science degree in Advanced Distributed Systems from 2008 to 2009. Kyriakos further extended their academic journey at the same institution, completing their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Analysis and Design of Software and Distributed Systems from 2009 to 2013.

In addition to their formal education, Kyriakos has obtained several certifications. These include "Reactive Architecture: CQRS & Event Sourcing" and "Reactive Architecture: Domain Driven Design" from Lightbend, Inc. in 2019 and 2018 respectively. Kyriakos also holds an "AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate 2018" certification from Udemy, as well as certifications in "Natural Language Processing using Python," "Server Side Rendering with React and Redux," and "Functional Programming Principles in Scala" from various institutions such as Udemy and Coursera Course Certificates, all obtained between 2016 and 2018.
