Scott Mactier has a diverse work experience in the aquaculture industry. Scott is currently serving as the Chief Production Officer at Oceano Fresco since January 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Tasmanian Oyster Company Limited as the General Manager of Breeding and R&D from August 2022 to December 2022 and as the Senior Manager of Breeding and R&D from August 2021 to August 2022.

Scott also held positions at Shellfish Culture Ltd, where they worked as the Operations Manager of the Hatchery from March 2018 to August 2021 and as the Hatchery Manager from July 2015 to March 2018. Scott briefly worked as a Hatchery Technician at Southern Cross Shellfish from March 2015 to July 2015.

Before that, Scott worked at Atlas South Sea Pearl as a Project Manager from March 2013 to August 2014 and as a Farm Manager from August 2011 to February 2013.

Scott also had a role as an Aquaculture Research Officer at James Cook University/AYAD from February 2009 to August 2011.

Additionally, Scott worked as an Ornamental Aquaculture Consultant at ACIAR in April 2011, where they designed and implemented a theoretical and practical-based ornamental aquaculture workshop.

Scott started their career as a Hatchery Technician at Mainstream Aquaculture from July 2008 to December 2008 and as a Farm Hand at Good Fortune Bay Fisheries from February 2008 to June 2008.

Scott's earliest experience in the aquaculture industry was as a Farm Hand at Tassal Operations from December 2007 to February 2008.

Scott Mactier has a diverse education history. In 2002, they obtained the Open Water Diver certification from PADI. Later, from 2005 to 2008, they attended James Cook University and completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Aquaculture. In 2011, they pursued further education by obtaining a Graduate Certificate of Research Methods in Aquaculture from the same university. Finally, from 2014 to 2017, they attended Deakin University and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
