Matt Dykstra

Matt Dykstra is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in climate advocacy and public information. Currently serving as the Senior Climate Campaigner at Oceans North since March 2024, Matt Dykstra focuses on reducing port and marine emissions ahead of the 2030 target. Prior to this role, Matt Dykstra worked as a Communications Advisor for the City of Edmonton's Executive Communications Team, providing strategic support to the City Manager and Executive Leadership Team. Previously, Matt Dykstra has held positions as Press Secretary for both Alberta's NDP Caucus and the Government of Alberta, where responsibilities included communications, media relations, and speech-writing. Matt Dykstra began a career in journalism as a Multimedia Journalist for The Edmonton Sun and previously managed a Blockbuster store. Matt Dykstra holds a Diploma in Communications and Professional Writing from MacEwan University.
